BATHINDA: Amidst the raging controversy over the legal status of a baby born through IVF technique at the age of 58 years, the image of the newly born son of the parents of slain rapper Shubhdeep Singh, known as Sidhu Moosewala, has appeared on a billboard at Times Square, New York.
The visuals of Sidhu Moosewala and his younger brother, also named Shubhdeep, in the lap of their father Balkaur Singh, have been featured on the billboard. Sidhu Moosewala was born on June 11, 1993 and junior Shubhdeep on March 17, 2024. On the billboard, both have been featured with the captions ‘born 1993’ and ‘2024.’
A small video clip featuring both siblings at Times Square, taken by a fan surfaced on social media, with a song of Moosewala playing in the background.
Sidhu Moosewala had previously been featured at Times Square after his gruesome killing near Mansa town on May 29, 2022. Again, he was shown to have featured in one of the songs released posthumously.
A controversy erupted over the birth of the son through IVF technology to the parents of Sidhu Moosewala, father Balkaur Singh and mother Charan Kaur.
Balkaur Singh, two days ago, uploaded a video clip in which he accused the Punjab government of harassing him, asking to prove the legal status of the newly born boy.
The next morning, the authorities came out with a letter written by the Union Health Ministry, which had asked the Principal Secretary of Health, Punjab, to look into the birth through IVF, stating that as per the ART Regulation Act 2021, women aged between 21-50 years could undergo IVF, but when Charan Kaur gave birth to the baby, she was 58 years old.
When the controversy erupted, the Punjab government issued a show cause notice to health officials, asking why they had not brought the matter to the attention of the health minister and chief minister before questioning Balkaur Singh about the legal status.
