NEW DELHI: Union education ministry on Wednesday launched the new curriculum framework for school education in sync with National Education Policy 2020 (NEP).
The new curriculum framework includes the following changes –

  • Board examinations to be conducted twice a year and students will be allowed to retain the best score.
  • Board exams will assess understanding, achievement of competencies than months of coaching and memorisation.
  • Choice of subjects in classes 11,12 will not be restricted to streams, students to get flexibility to choose.
  • Class 11, 12 students need to study two languages, at least one language must be Indian.
  • Additonally, textbooks to be developed for 2024 academic session.
  • Current practice of ‘covering’ textbooks in classroom will be avoided, cost of textbooks to be optimised.
  • School boards to develop capacities to offer ‘on demand’ exams in due course of time.
  • Board exam test developers, evaluators to go through university-certified courses before taking up this work.
