NEW DELHI: A 22-year-old woman was killed and at least six people were injured after being mowed down by a car in the Ghazipur area of east Delhi on Wednesday.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
According to police, the incident took place around 9pm. The locals, enraged by the incident, vandalised the vehicle and attacked the driver, causing serious injuries to him.
The driver has been hospitalised and is currently receiving medical attention.
The locals claimed that the driver was intoxicated, but the police have said that a medical examination will be conducted to confirm this allegation.

“A total of seven people with injuries were admitted to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital. Five of them were women and two were men,” deputy commissioner of police (east) Apoorva Gupta said.
A deceased has been identified as Sita Devi(22) of Ghaziabad.
The people who were mowed down are residents of Khoda Colony on the Delhi-Ghaziabad border.
“The accused is in police custody and legal action is being taken,” said the officer.
