NEW DELHI: Union home minister Amit Shah on Monday told a parliamentary consultative committee that the full implementation of central laws in J&K following the nullification of Article 370 has guaranteed equality and fairness to all, including Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, women, children and senior citizens.
Presiding over a meeting of the parliamentary consultative committee on home affairs in Daman – attended by its 11 members, junior home ministers, MHA officers, J&K chief secretary and DGs of Central armed police forces (CAPFs) – to discuss the development in J&K and issues relating to CAPFs, Shah said the abrogation of Article 370 has ushered a transformational phase in J&K, with wide-ranging changes seen in development, security and socio-economic dimensions.
He said there has been substantial progress in the UT in the last few years, in the fields of power generation, transmission and distribution sectors, irrigation schemes, agriculture, industry, health, education, road-rail-air transport, tourism, employment etc. This, while stone pelting and organised strikes have become a thing of the past.
