NEW DELHI: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday approved the expulsion of party leader Sanjay Nirupam for 6 years after complaints of indiscipline and anti-party statements.
This comes after the Congress had dropped Nirupam from the list of star campaigners in Maharashtra and announced that action will be taken against him for his remarks against the party.
This comes after the Congress had dropped Nirupam from the list of star campaigners in Maharashtra and announced that action will be taken against him for his remarks against the party.
“The way he has been making remarks, it seems he has taken a contract to speak against the party. Action will be taken against him in a day or two. No notice will be sent to him,” Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole said.
Nirupam responded to the news with a dig at the Congress and said he will announce his future course of action tomorrow. “Congress should not waste its energy and stationery on me and instead use whatever little is left in saving the party. It is anyways going through a huge economic crisis. My one-week deadline ends today and I will make an announcement tomorrow,” he said in a post on X.
