Expressing anticipation for the next phase of his recovery journey, Shami, a key performer with 24 wickets in the 2023 ODI World Cup, recently missed the five-match Test series against England.
Furthermore, he is set to be absent from the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) due to the surgery he underwent last month to address his ankle injury.
“Hello everyone! I wanted to provide an update on my recovery process. It has been 15 days since my surgery, and I recently had my stitches removed. I am thankful for the advancements and looking forward to the next stage of my healing journey,” Shami wrote on ‘X’ along with three photographs.
The 33-year-old pace bowler has been absent from cricket since the ODI World Cup last year. Despite grappling with landing-related issues and playing through pain, Shami played a crucial role in India’s impressive World Cup campaign. His dedication to the game was evident as he didn’t let his physical challenges affect his performance on the field.
Recently honoured with the prestigious Arjuna Award, Shami boasts an impressive career record with 229 Test wickets, 195 ODI wickets, and 24 T20 wickets over his decade-long cricket journey.
Unfortunately, Shami, along with Prasidh Krishna, has been ruled out of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). Additionally, it has been confirmed that he will miss this year’s T20 World Cup, adding to his ongoing absence from competitive cricket.
